Life Prep International provides training in biblical adulthood and success in all areas of life.
There are many wonderful multi-year institutions, Bible colleges and seminaries. At the same time, there are thousands of people who for career, personal, ministry, and circumstantial reasons would not be eligible (or even called) to that platform of education.
“Had a training program similar to what is outlined here existed 15 years ago, my two youngest daughters would have attended pre-college, and my son would have attended post-college. I’m positive no less than two dozen nephews, nieces, and church grads would have immeasurably benefited (some heartache-preventing and life-changing) from such training. As most fathers and pastors do, I gave it ‘my best shot’ to train this group; but, I always find myself ‘wishing’ I’d had the opportunity to be more thorough.”
Remember, this “I’d like to have done more” is coming from just one family and one church. Multiply that “one family/one church” projection by just a few dozen churches and families, and simply consider the potential impact.
Some students might choose a career in ministry after going through this special training. Many would continue on to college, military, technical training, careers, and marriage. All would have: (1) greater biblically-based knowledge, (2) a stronger support group, and (3) the training to better handle life’s endless surprises.
Perhaps we pastors and lay leaders are to do nothing in this arena. Perhaps, we are to do something, however “small” and time-limited. No matter what path is taken, we cannot say that we are without the gifts, talent, experience, wisdom, resources;even the time to “pass the baton” of life-wisdom to this special group of people facing lives of multiple challenges.
The urgency to place the LPI vision in the hands of people with so much life-wisdom to impart has been greatly heightened by the homegoing of Mindy Parrish, who it seems certain would have been one of the first to step forward and say, “I will somehow be a part of a training program that’s calling back to the next generation.”
The many hours that went into this presentation, planning, time, and, if need be, money spent, is dedicated to the memory of Mindy; whose name, like Phoebe’s, is rightfully remembered as: “Mindy, our sister, a servant of the Lord. Who, indeed, was a helper and encourager of many and of many of us also.” See Romans 16:1,2.
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. Psalm 71:16-18.
